Hail Damage Roof Repair in Melbourne

Hail can crack tiles, split ridge capping, dent sheets and smash skylights in minutes, and the leaks often show up days later. We make it safe 24/7, write the insurance report with photos, then repair the roof properly. Across Melbourne and towns within about a 2-hour drive.

      Call us: 03 8583 2640 or 0426 204 244

      Make-safe, insurance report, repair

I’m Victor from Holy Mess Repairs. After hail, we tarp anything that’s letting water in, then inspect the whole roof, including the parts you can’t see from the ground. You get a written report with photos of every damaged area, what caused it, and what the repair will cost, ready for your insurer.

Every job is done by fully licensed tradespeople, either our own Holy Mess team or a fully licensed contractor we organise and manage.

Hail damage we find and fix

      • Cracked and broken tiles and ridge capping
      • Dented or holed metal sheets, flashings and gutters
      • Broken skylights and polycarbonate. See skylights.
      • Damaged solar panel surrounds and roof penetrations
      • Gutters and valleys blocked with hail and leaves, overflowing inside

      Insurance reports for hail claims

Our insurance reports set out the damage area by area, with photos, the likely cause (hail versus age and wear), and itemised repair options with prices. Insurers and assessors use them to make a decision quickly. Need paperwork for a claim? See our insurance reports and, if a builder or contractor caused the problem, our expert witness and building dispute reports.

      Before we get there

      1. If anyone is in danger, call 000. For fallen power lines, stay well clear and call your electricity distributor’s faults line.
      2. Turn off the water at the main stop tap (usually near the meter at the front boundary) if a pipe or fixture is leaking.
      3. Turn off the power at the switchboard if water is near power points, lights or appliances, and only if you can do it safely without standing in water.
      4. Smell gas? Don’t use switches or flames, open doors and windows, get out and call the gas emergency line.
      5. Move valuables away from the water and catch drips with buckets and towels.
      6. Take photos and videos for your insurer, and send them to us on WhatsApp at 0426 204 244.

      After-hours emergency pricing, up front

After hours there’s a $330 call-out fee, and the minimum charge for an emergency repair is $550. We tell you both on the phone before we head out, so there are no surprises at the door. If the job is bigger than an emergency fix, we make it safe first, then give you a written quote for the long-term repair before any more work starts.

      How it works

How our hail damage roof repair works: 1 call 24/7, 2 cost confirmed, 3 make it safe, 4 fix the cause, 5 photos + quote

      2. We confirm the cost on the phone. $330 after-hours call-out and a $550 minimum, before anyone heads out.
      3. We make it safe. Stop the water, isolate the danger, cover or secure what’s damaged.
      4. We fix the cause. On the spot where we can, by fully licensed tradespeople.
      5. Photos and a quote for the rest. Before and after photos for you and your insurer, and a written quote for the long-term repair.

Real reports from our jobs (names and addresses blacked out)

      • Report (insurance scope of works), Chisholm ACT (2025-07): Scope-of-works report for an insurance-managed roof repair in Chisholm, Canberra. After a site visit we documented the tile roof leaks, wrote a detailed scope, and priced several repair options from about $2,000 to $25,000. Insurers, builders and homeowners get the same clear, impartial information, whichever option they choose.
      • Pre-arrival estimate (insurance, from client photos/video), Curtin ACT (2026-03): Insurance repair quote for a roof leak in Curtin, Canberra, prepared before attending from the homeowner’s photos and video and the insurer’s assessment report. We reviewed the evidence, identified likely flashing defects, and priced the repairs with dye testing to confirm the cause. It shows how we can give a quick, evidence-based quote without a first site visit.
      • Insurance report (emergency weatherproofing), Traralgon (2026-03): Emergency weatherproofing report from Traralgon. Several roof tiles had shifted or had broken lugs, so they no longer locked together and water could get in. We realigned the tiles where possible and secured a heavy-duty 3.6 by 3.6 metre tarp over the worst section to stop further internal damage until permanent repairs.

See every published report on our real roof reports page.
